Two New Multi-Legged Robots, Turtle Robot 02 and KMR-P4 Using a New KONDO Servo, KRS-2542SHV Will Be Put on the Market. (Aug. 27, 2011)

KONDO KAGAKU Co. LTD. announced two new multi-legged robots, Turtle Robot 02 and 4-Legged Robot KMR-P4, which used a new KONDO servo, KRS-2542HV as leg servo at ROBOSPOT during the 5th and 6th KONDO BATTLE on Aug. 27, 2011. The shipment is scheduled in September.

Details of the New Products were opened on Sept. 16, 2011. Shipment of the products was postponed until the middle of October.

Turtle Robot 02 succeeds to Turtle Robot 01 which was put on the market on July 16, 2010.    The 02 uses new servo KRS-2542HV as leg servo and RCB-4HV as control board. RCB-4HV is well known as the standard control board of KHR-3HV.    Body structure of the 02 is almost the same as that of 01.

The new servo KRS-2542HV uses plastic gear instead of metal gear which is used in KRS-2552HV.   The case size is the same as that of KRS-2552HV.   KRS-2552HV is known to the standard servo of KHR-3HV.    It is impotant point KRS-2542HV has a new ICS(Interactive Communication System)as ICS 3.5 which can be controlled by Serial and PWM mode.    On the other hand KRS-2552HV's ICS 3.0 can be controlled just by Serial mode.

HOBBY ROBOT COLOSSEO, a big hobby robot event will take place in Shizuoka City on Sept. 3-4, 2011

HOBBY ROBOT COLOSSEO, the biggest hobby robot event in Japan will take place at Shizuoka Convention & Arts Center "GRANSHIP" in Shizuoka City on Sept. 3-4, 2011 during the 50th Japan SF Convention. The COLOSSEO is planned by Ishikawa-san who planned Wandahoo Robot Carnival.

Illustration of the COLOSSEO was designed by Minoru Kamiya, who is famous for manga such as Pla-Wres Sanshiro and Act-on and also known to designer of Weekly ROBO XERO. Kamiya-san also will join the COLOSSEO with his custom-built robot.

Most of hobby robot competitions related ROBO-ONE, will join the COLOSSEO. These robot competitions are held once or twice every year by hobbist groups in local region. Most of competitions started after KONDO humanoid robot kit, KHR-1 was on the market. And most of competitions join the organization of “JSRC”( Standard Regulation Class Network of Japan).   And most of competition also follows ROBO-ONE’s robot body regulation.  More than 70 robots will join the COLOSSEO.

All competitions in the COLOSSEO will be shown on ‘Ustream HOBBY ROBOT COLOSSEO’  by Ishikawa-san and Tobby-san.

Introdution of Each Robot Game of Group

Naga-Ranger Fighting Festa(ROBOT Karuta)
Nishiokitama Industry Association holds the Naga-Ranger Fighting Festa twice every year in Nagai City, Yamagata Prefecture. In the competition, “ROBOT Karuta: Card Finding Game” is carried out for pairing the 1st stage fighting at first. Speaker reads a card which card marked by the first letter of the card content. When a card is read, robot owner finds the card and then makes his robot run to the card and put on the card. Then, the robot owner can select the position of the robot fight tournament. Chiki-Chiki Robo-Match(Zigzag Log Bridge)
Chiki-Chiki Robo-Match sponsored by Robotoma, takes place every year and Chiki-Chiki-Robo-Match Mini also takes place every month. A new race is planned in every Chiki-Chiki-Robo-Match Mini. Zingzag Log Bridge took place at the 5th mini match. Robot runs 6 m tile-carpet, 30 cm width course set zinzag within 3 minutes. If robot goes down the course within 3 minutes, robot can try to run from start point.



Sunrise Hero Robot Battle
Sunrise Hero Robot Battle(S.H.R.B.) is a robot fight tournament sponsored by ROBO-ONE Entertainment Office and LOXLEY Co. Ltd. and also supported by SUNRISE Inc. which is famous for animation producing company such as `Gundum`. The first S.H.R.B was carried out in Kouriyama on Aug. 15th, 2009. As S.H.R.B. is not only robot fight tournament but also including `Costume Play` competition of the robot builder, builders are all enjoying their costume. The regulations are 1)Character of the robot is limited to those of cartoon characters produced by SUNRISE Inc. 2)Robot worked as a biped robot. 3)Pilot also had to have or put on the item concerning character of the robot. Wandahoo Robot Carnival(Bottle Traction: Bottle Carrying Race)
Wandahoo Robot Carnival is sponsored by Ishikawa-san and supported by the members of Kanto ROBOT Practice(Kanto-gumi Robot Training Meeting). The Carnival is robot competition consisted with various four type games. Therefore, this Carnival is called `Robot Olympic`. The 1st Carnival took place on July 16, 2006 and then the Carnival held twice in January and July every year.

Bottle Traction :
Robot pushes or pulls a basket with 500 or 1000 ml bottles for 2 m within 1 minute. Points are multiplication of number of bottles and distance carried. Video taken at the 7th Carnival on July 19, 2009 is as follows;



TIROL-CHOCO Robot Competition (CHOCO Getter: TIROL-CHOCO Carrying Race)
The 1st TIROL-CHOCO Robot Competition sponsored by MASAYUKI-san, supported by RT Co., Ltd. and cooperated by TIROL-CHOCO CO., took place at RT Office in Akihabara, Tokyo on July 9, 2007. After that, the completion takes place every year. Regulations of robot body are 1) Robot has to put on big TIROL-CHOCO exterior, 2) Biped robot which number of servo for legs is under 4. Such type robots are known to Roppo type robot. Two arm-robots put on the 2 m course. Player removes TIROL-CHOCO from the basket of arm-robot to the basket on the robot. Each robot carries TIROL-CHOCO on the robot within 5 minutes for 2 m. The order is depended on the time and the number of TIROL-CHOCO carried. Robot Survival Game(Extermination Battle, Flag Battle and Fortress Battle)
Robot Survival Game was planned by Tanaka-san and Bishii-san. Mobile, not only multi-legged robot or biped robot but also mobile with wheel or caterpillar with toy gun and hit sensor can join to play survival game. The 1st Robot Survival Game took place at Akihabara, Tokyo on July 19, 2010 and the game takes place every 2 months. Tanaka-san also planned several kind of survival game, such as Extermination Battle, Flag Battle and Fortress Battle. Videos taken at the 7th Robot survival Game on June 26, 2011 are as follows;

Extermination Battle (Destroy the enemy completely):
Each team fights to destroy the enemy completely within 3 minutes; Winner team is having larger number of survival robot after 3 minutes.



Flag Battle:
Each team builds fortress and set a flag in each territory. Each team fights to shoot down flag in the enemy territory. The winner is the team shot down the enemy flag within 3 minutes or the team which has larger number of survival robot after 3 minutes in the case of each flag does not shoot down within 3 minutes.



Fortress Battle (divide into offensive team and defensive team):
One team is just offensive and other team is just defensive. Just defensive team builds fortress and set a flag in it, and offensive team attacks the fortress and shoot down the flag. Attack team does not know enemy fortress structure.



ROBO-SOCCER
ROBO-SOCCER is sponsored by NPO Hamamatsu Monodukuri Koubo. The 1st ROBO SOCCER took place on Dec. 5, 2009 and the 2nd one took place on July 24 in Shizuoka City. The robot body regulation and game rule are similar to those of KONDO CUP. Two remarkable differences from KONDO CUP are 4 robots play soccer on the joint-carpet field. Himeji Robo-Challenge (Build up Himeji Castle, Look for Balls by Autonomous)
The 1st Himeji Robo-Challenge took place on Dec. 11, 2005 in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture. After then, the competition takes place twice every year.

Build up Himeji Castle:
Robot carries three kinds of cube or polyhedron on the 1.5 m wood board, 30 cm width by kicking, hitting or handling into the goal area within 2 minutes. Video taken at the 10th competition on July 18, 2010 is as follows;



Look for Balls by Autonomous:

YOKA ROBO Matsuri(Festival) takes place twice every year by Kyushu Robot Training Group for the beginner of robot hobbyist in Fukuoka City. The 1st one took place as WAKUWAKU Enjoy Robot Competition on Apr 15, 2007.

`Dekinnoka!` in Japanese, means `Can you do it?`. As Omata-san has been loving real professional wrestling, the 1st Robot Professional Wrestling in Soka on Nov. 3rd, 2008 was planned and held by him. He explains the 'Robot Professional Wrestling' is not 'Wrestling' but 'Fighting Arts'. The purpose of `Dekinnoka!` is not only robot fight but also to inform pleasure of robot. ROBOT FORCE:SWORD7
ROBOT FORCE has been holding ROBO-Fight and ROBO-Gong, robot fight competitions for biped hobby robot since 2005. The 1st ROBO-Gong took place for KHR-1 user on Apr 3, 2005 and the 1st ROBO-Fight for custom robot builder on May 8, 2005. Each competition takes place twice every year. SWORD7, robot athletic competition took place on Apr 25, 2009 for the first time. Biped kit robots on the market can join the race. RoboCountryIV: Robot Amusing Contest (Robot Performance Contest)
RoboCountryIV (RCⅣ) is the society of the biped robot builders mainly from Shikoku Island of Japan. The RCⅣ is the Robot competition which has been promoted by Kagawa Humanoid Robot Society "KHRS" . Their ultimate goal is to enlighten the youth of Kagawa with the brilliant technology of Robotics.The 1st RCⅣ took place in 2005 Aug and then RCⅣtakes place twice in summer and winter every year.

Dekinnoka!8 Press Conference (Aug 13, 2011)

Dekinnoka!8 press conference was held by President Mr. Tamao (as Omata-san) of Dekinnoka! at Robotoma on Aug. 13, 2011.

Dekinnoka!8 will take place at HOBBY ROBOT COLOSSEO, the biggest hobby robot event in Japan which will be held at Shizuoka Convention & Arts Center "GRANSHIP" in Shizuoka City on Sept. 3-4, 2011 during the 50th Japan SF Convention. Dekinnoka!8 in the COLOSSEO will be shown on Ustream HOBBY ROBOT COLOSSEO’ by Ishikawa-san and Tobby-san.

Dekinnoka!8 took place at HOBBY ROBOT COLOSSEO on Sep. 4, 2011 and was shown on 'Ustream HOBBY ROBOT COLOSSEO'. Video of Dekinnoka!8 is also keeping in the HOBBY ROBOT COLOSSEO Channel.

Dekinnoka!8 will be held on Sep 4, as the final event of the HOBBY ROBOT COLOSSEO. The main event of Dekinnoka!8 is a single match:Thunderbolt vs Nagare-Gold. Thunderbolt custom-built by Shibata-san, got Gold Medal of the Androids:FreeStyle-original in RoboGames 2011. Nagare-Gold custom-built by KENTA-san, also got Gold Medal of the Androids: Kung-Fu-MiddleWt in RoboGames 2011. Thunderbolt and Nagare-Gold fought three times in Dekinnoka!5, 6 and 7. Thunderbolt could not win Nagare-Gold. Which robot will be winner?

The 4th KONDO LAND Multi-Legged Robot Obstacle Race (July 17, 2011)

The 4th KONDO LAND Multi-Legged Robot Obstacle Race took place at ROBOSPOT in Akihabara, Tokyo on July 17, 2011. The games were shown on `USTREAM KONDO-ROBOT Channel` from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (JST) and videos are keeping in the Channel.

Nine multi-legged  robots, such as 4-legged and 6-legged robot joined the race.   Video of nine robots in order of start were as follows;

Benzene, 6-longlegged robot by Tama-Kagi-Robo-han who were students in high school.


Tictac5, 6-legged robot using just 3 servos and link system by Amino-san.


BLACK TIGER L44, 4-legged robot by IKETOMU.


Garutan, 4-legged robot by Kumama-san.  Garutan cleared Wobbly Bridge in the trial but could not clear in the real twice races.


Colon, KMR-M6 by Yoshida Familia.


Miwaku-no-Takyaku-kun, 4-legged robot by Takahashi-san.   The robot tried to push the button on the Magic Wall using its long head and stop Magic Wall.


Kabuton, 6-legged robot by Kamiya-san.    The robot also tried to push the button on the Magic Wall and stop Magic Wall.


Gold-Griffon, 6-legged robot by Moriken-san.


Rekusis, 6-legged robot by suzuki-san.  The robot took part in the race on the spur on the moment.


Regulations of the Multi-Legged Robot Obstacle Race  were as follows.

1. Robot body regulation
1) KONDO servos have to be used.
2) There is no limitation of number of axes.
3) Weight of Robot is 3 kg or under.
4) Robot body sizes (arms are folding) are height 30 cm, width 30 cm and depth 30 cm or under.
5) Moving by wheels is prohibited.
6) Control board is free.
7) Robot has to be controlled by wireless or autonomous. Wired control is prohibited.

2. Course regulation
1) Obstacles are set in the KONDO CUP KHR Class Soccer Field.
2) The most narrow width of the course is 400 mm and the lowest height of the course is 400 mm.
3) Material of the floor depends on each obstacle.

3. Competition regulation
1) Just one robot walks the course.
2) Time from the start point to goal is recorded.  The shortest time robot is winner.
3) Each robot can challenge the course twice.
4) Robot has to reach the goal within 3 minutes and the time over robot is retired.
5) Robot gone out of the course gets penalty time 10 seconds and one penalty point.  Penalty time adds to the record of 3 mins.  Robot can restart from the entrance of un-cleared obstacle.  There are no limitations of restart times.  Every restart adds 10 secs penalty time and one penalty point.
6) At the 2nd attraction, Magic Wall, robot push out the moving wall has a penalty time 10 secs and one penalty point.  The magic wall push out is not returned to the obstacle course.
7) Robot can get points by pushing the button in each point getting place, where a point button set.  Getting points are depended on the button set place.

KONDO LAND Attraction Guide


Various kinds of 6 obstacles set in the race course are as follows;

The 1st attraction : `Gattan` Seesaw
A big seesaw, which size are 500 mm in width and 700 mm in length with an inclination of 15 degrees.  A point getting push button for one point is set.  The steep slope is not easy for every robot.  It is important for robot not to slip feet.

The 2nd attraction: Magic Wall
A road, which size are 600 mm width and 1,000 mm in length with 2 pushing robots.  Magic Walll is hard for light weight robots.  Robot needs weight and power for push out the Wall.  Push button for stopping pushing robot was set on the each pushing robot.  Player robot can stop the pushing robot by pushing the button switch.

The 3rd Attraction: Mootan House
A big tunnel, which size are 1,200 mm width and 1,200 mm length with a pitfall (400 x 400 mm).  Two push buttons for one point are set in the House.  Ten point button is set out of the House.  One push gets one point and ten times push get 10 points, however 11 times push makes point zero.  Robots fallen into the trap, cannot return the race course.  Controller cannot see his robot in the Mootan House from controlling space.  Controller can move by the advice of his assistant.  Robot can be attached wireless camera and be controlled through image on PC.

Robot fallen down under the Mootan House, has to open the gate by pushing button switch set behind the floor in front of Swirling Straits.


The 4th attraction: Wobbly Bridge
A Board Bridge, which size are 400 mm width and 700 mm length, revolves on an axis.  If robots walk the edge of bridge, robots fall down from the bridge.  Robots have to walk slowly in the center of board.  Robot needs to have a low gravity.  Ten points button is also set beyond the bridge and one point button is set in the slope to the Reverse Street.

The 5th attraction: Swirling Straits
Robot fallen down from the pitfall of Mootan House, has to pass through the most difficult Swirling Straits.  Space of 900 mm width and 1,000 mm length, filled with sponge balls is too hard to walk.   Robots need to have long legs.

The 6th attraction: Reverse Street
Belt conveyor street of 500 mm width and 700 mm is moving reverse direction.  Robot has to walk with high speed.  The conveyor is too narrow to walk for big robots.

The  4th KONDO LAND Multi-Legged Robot Obstacle Race Results

Each robot had twice real time record race.  In the 4th KONDO LAND Obstacle Race, Tictac5 could  clear all 6 attractions twice within 3 minutes. The 1st place was Tictac5 which cleared 2 minutes and 1 second.  The 2nd place were Gartan and Miwaku-no-Takyaku-kun cleared Mootan House with no penalty points.    The MVP was Benzene for their challenging spirits. The result was described here . The best race video of each robot was as follows;

Benzene, 6-longlegged robot by Tama-Kagi-Robo-han who were student in high school. The robot could not go up the slope of the seesaw.


Tictac5, 6-legged robot using just 3 servos and link system by Amino-san. Tictac5 could clear all 6 attractions twice within 3 minutes.

KRS-4031HV, a new KRS-403X Series KONDO Servo, will be put on the market (July 14, 2011)

KONDO KAGAKU CO. LTD. announced a new servo, KRS-4031HV ICS will be put on the market. The shipment is scheduled on July 22nd, 2011 from KONDO’s web shop or other shops.

The new servo, KRS-4031HV ICS succeeds to KRS-4024SHV ICS which was used as the standard survo of MANOI AT01 and PF01. The new servo is suitable for KONDO controller such as RCB-4HV, RCB-3HV and KCB-1. Specifications of the new servo are as follows:

New KRS-403XHV ICS Series KONDO Servos
Other new KRS-403XHV ICS series KONDO servo, KRS-4033HV ICS and KRS-4034HV ICS, which succeeded to KRS-4013HV ICS and KRS-4014HV ICS respectively, have been put on the market since May, 2010 and the highest speed new servo KRS-4032HV ICS also has been put on the market since Oct, 2010.  As for new KONDO servos were also described in this blog.  These new series servos are suitable for KONDO controller, such as RCB-4HV and RCB-3HV.  Specifications of servos are as follows:
