ROBO-ONE 31st Biped Robot Fight Tournamnt (Sep 24 , 2017)


ROBO-ONE 31st sponsored by Biped Robot Association, took place at  Kanagawa Prefectural Youth Center in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Pref. on Sep 24, 2017.  

ROBO-ONE Light 14th and ROBO-ONE auto took place on Sep 23rd and 4.5m Footrace as the preliminary ROBO-ONE 31st Tournament and the main event ROBO-ONE 31st Final Tournament took place on Sep 24th.

The major regulation was the weight of robot, which was 3 kg or under 3 kg.  Details of the body regulation were described in the 31st ROBO-ONE, the 15th ROBO-ONE Light Regulation and the 2nd ROBO-ONE auto (in English).   Side punch has been prohibited since ROBO-ONE 23rd Tournament in the robot fight.



One hundred and thirty-eight robots joined the competition.  ROBO-ONE 31st was held as the tournament with 48 robots, upper place robots in the preliminary 4.5 m Footrace including winners of the local robot competitions or honor robots.

4.5 m Footrace
Four meters and 50 cm Footrace was carried out as the preliminary competition to select 41 robots and to decide the tournament order.  Robots had to walk 4.5 m course with 90 cm width within 1 minute.   Each robot time record taken 4.5 m walk, or the distance from start point if robot could not walk within 1 minute, or robot fell down from the course was recorded.

Each robot tried just one time Footrace. The 4.5 m course pasted with thin rubbers in the course, seemed to be not flat.  Therefore, it was not easy to walk through 4.5 m course for the most of robots.    All robots walked the course within 1 minute, passed the preliminary competition.   The result of the preliminary 4.5 m Footrace is here.

The 1st place was Frosty by 4.53 seconds, the 2nd place was HAUSER by 10.37 seconds and the 3rd place was KAGRA-SOU by 10.87 seconds.   Just 51 robots could reach the goal within 1 minute. Upper 17 robots were under 20 seconds, the 18th to the 27th place robots were under 30 seconds.  yk-san uploaded videos of the preliminary competition as follows.

ROBO-ONE 31st Tournament (3 kg or Under)

The final tournament winner was Vermilion by SHIBAURA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY SRDC.  The 2nd place was Speranza by Tateno.  The 3rd place was BJ05 ASURA by Daidou University Old Boy.  The forth place was KOBIS by BISKO.  Result of the tournament is here.

Robot Pro-Wrestling Match, `Dekinnoka!34` took place in Soka City (Nov 3, 2017)


Robot Professional Wrestling Match, `Dekinnoka!34`, sponsored by Omata-san took place in Soka City on Nov 3, 2017 during Soka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Festival 2017.  Dekinnoka!34 was the 10th Dekinnoka! in Soka Camber of Commerce and Industry Festival.  The 1st Dekinnoka! took place on Nov. 3, 2008 in the Festival.
 
Five matches started at 2:30 pm.   The 1st single match was Afro vs Tokotoko-maru, the 2nd match was Blue-Thunder vs Nagare-Gold, the 3rd match was Reina vs Yukikaze vs Newtrino, the 4th gantlet match was Waroo vs Metallicfighter and the main event, Kanto Interregional Championship was challenger King-Puni vs champoin Saaga. All  matches were shown on `YouTube Robot Event Haisin-ya Channel`.

`Dekinnoka!` in Japanese, means `Can you do it?`. As Omata-san has been loving real professional wrestling, the 1st Robot Professional Wrestling in Soka on Nov. 3rd, 2008 was planned and held by him.

He explained the 'Robot Professional Wrestling' was not 'Wrestling' but 'Fighting Arts'. The purpose of `Dekinnoka!` was not only robot fight but also to inform pleasure of robot. He planned not only wrestling match but also the back story of each wrestler character such as a real pro-wrestling match.

Robot Pro-Wrestling `Dekinnoka!` took place  during 8 years. `Dekinnoka!` has been also supported by the members of Kanto-Robot-Training-Group.

The 15th ROBO-ONE Light Biped Robot Fight Tournament (Sep 23, 2017)


ROBO-ONE Light 15th sponsored by Biped Robot Association, took place at  Kanagawa Prefectural Youth Center in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Pref. on Sep 23, 2017.  

ROBO-ONE Light 15th also took place on Sep 23rd and 4.5m Footrace as the preliminary ROBO-ONE 31st Tournament and the main event ROBO-ONE 31st Final Tournament took place on Sep 24th.

ROBO-ONE Light 15th
ROBO-ONE Light is a robot fight tournament for robots on the market, which are officially recognized by ROBO-ONE Committee. Beginner, who gets robot from the market and want to attend the ROBO-ONE Tournament, can attend the competition with his robot which is made from just robot kit. Custom-built robot, just the weight 1 kg or under (UK1) also can attend the tournament.

The regulations are as follows;
1) Officially recognized robot regulation
Robots on the market, officially recognized by ROBO-ONE Committee, can attend the competition whether the robot adapt the 31st ROBO-ONE, the 15th ROBO-ONE Light Regulation and the 2nd ROBO-ONE auto (in English).
2) Custom-built robot weight except for the officially recognized robot is 1 kg or under (UK1). Custom-built robot has to adapt the 31st ROBO-ONE, the 15th ROBO-ONE Light Regulation and the 2nd ROBO-ONE auto (in English).



In the tournament, custom-built robots handicapped by about 500 g compared with officially recognized kits such as KHR-3HV.  It was interesting that how builder of custom robot UK1 overcame the weight handicap and which robot kit was able to win the tournament. However, it is necessary for getting championship of robot fight tournament to carry 3 important factors such as good body, good motion and good control.

Eighty-six robots joined the 15th tournament. More than 45 robots were custom-built robot, UK1 (1kg or under). Other robots were officially recognized robots such as KHR-3HV.

In the 15h tournament, custom-built UK1 robots could not overcome the weight handicap 500g.   The Champion, Metallic Fighter by Morinaga-san was a officially recognized robot, KHR-3HV. The 2nd place Simanchu by JGSDF HTS Robot R&D Club was also a custom-built robot, KHR-3HV.   The 3rd place Little・puni by Osaka Sangyo University Puni was a custom-built robot, UK1 (1kg or under).  The 4th place HAM SIHOON_light by YELLOWTOOTH was also a custom-built robot, UK1.   The results are here.

The 2nd ROBO-ONE auto, Autonomous Biped Robot Fight Tournament (Sep 23, 2017)


The 2nd ROBO-ONE auto sponsored by Biped Robot Association, took place at Kanagawa Prefectural Youth Center in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Pref. on Sep 23, 2017.   

ROBO-ONE Light 15th also took place on Sep 23rd and 4.5m Footrace as the preliminary ROBO-ONE 31st Tournament and the main event ROBO-ONE 31st Final Tournament took place on Sep 24th.

The major regulation of the 2nd ROBO-ONE auto were just autonomous robot could join the tournament and the weight of robot, which was 5 kg or under.  Details of the body regulation were described in the 31st ROBO-ONE, the 15th ROBO-ONE Light Regulation and the 2nd ROBO-ONE auto (in English).  Side punch has been prohibited since ROBO-ONE 23rd Tournament in the robot fight.



Twenty-five robots joined the competition.  The tournament winner was King Puni custom-built by Osaka Sangyo University Puni.  The 2nd place was BLACK TIGER NEO by myself, IKETOMU.   The 3rd place was KOBIS by BISKO.  Result of the tournament is here.



My autonomous robot, `BLACK TIGER NEO` also joined the tournament and got the 2nd place.   Almost autonomous robot had sensor system as PSD and/or ultrasonicwave sensor.  It was difficult for almost autonomous robot to find the robot in long distance such as 1 m over.

The 1st Pla-Wrestling Robot Fight, Named After `Pla-Wres Sanshiro` took place in Kawasaki(Aug 19, 2017)


The 1st Pla-Wrestling Robot Fight sponsored by Ishikawa-san, took place at Sunpian Kawasaki in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Pref. on Aug 19, 2017.   

The 1st Pla-Wrestling Robot Fight was named after a Japanese famous animation `Pla-Wres Sanshiro' published as a comic just 35 years ago in 1980s.   The book, 14 volumes have been published by Akita Publishing Co., Ltd. on the market.   The author, Jiro Ushi and Animator, Minoru Kamiya also attended the competition.

It is the work which junior high school student, Sanshiro Sugata, makes plastic wrestler robot incorporating micro-computer, named Juoumaru.  He joined the Pla-Wrestling competition with his robot and fights against a lot of  Pla-Wrestler robots.

The major regulation of the 1st Pla-Wrestling Robot Fight was as follows, just Pla-Wrestler robot on the comic or original character robot made for Pla-Wrestling fight could attend the competition.  Robot gets the game by fall with three counts or knockdown with ten counts.  Details of the regulation were described here.

Fifteen Pla-Wres Robot joined the 1st Pla-Wres Fight.    The 1st Pla-Wres Champion  was Bionickser by Igaa.  The 2nd place was Diener by Poka-tan.

Kazumichi Moriyama, an expert writer of robot reported  the 1st Pra-Wres Robot Fight  with pictures and videos, and also uploaded videos in his YouTube Channel as follows;

The 14th Wandahoo Robot Carnival took place in Tokyo (July16, 2017)

The 14th Wandahoo Robot Carnival took place at Try+ Bunkyo-Douzaka School in Tokyo on July 16th, 2017.   Fourteen robots joined the 14th Wandahoo.  The 1st place was TKU-05 Wadatsumi built by Nabe-san, the second place was Melon Juice by Tsubasa Nemoto of JGSDF High Techinical School and the third place was Toujin-Shimanchu by Kazunari Ohota of JGSDF High Techinical School.  Results were described in the 14th Wandahoo blog.

Wandahoo Robot Carnival is sponsored by Ishikawa-san and supported by the members of Kanto ROBOT Practice(Kanto-gumi Robot Training Meeting). Ishikawa-san and his stuffs are busy preparing USTREAM Live system of the Carnival now.

The Carnival is robot competition consisted with various four type games such as Dash 2000 (competition of 2 robots, 2 m U-turn course foot race; each robot gets points depended on the order of record time), Bottle Traction (pushing or pulling a basket with 500 or 1000 ml bottles for 2 m within 1 minute; points are multiplication of number of bottles and distance carried), Dice Shot (dice soccer of 2 robots; each robot gets points depended on the spots of dice shot for 2 minutes) and Cubs (team game of 3 robots each, carrying cubs to own territory for 2 minutes; winner team members get points) and Robot Fight with the best 4 robots. Therefore, this Carnival is called `Robot Olympic`.

Each robot gets points from each game. In the case of team game, winner team member robots gets points. Four robots gotten many points can join the final tournament of Robot Fight. The rest robots have Ramble Fights. Those games were planned by Ishikawa-san.
It is necessary for winner that the robot has a high activity with performance and also good luck.


The 1st Carnival took place on July 16, 2006 and then the Carnival held twice in January and July every year. From 2010, the Carnival takes place in July once a year. `Weekly ATOM` with Biped Communication Robot Parts of ATOM was Issued (Apr 4, 2017)

ATOM Project issued weekly magazine, `Weekly ATOM` with biped robot parts of ATOM on Apr 4th, 2017.  The issue was announced in TV on the day.  ATOM parts are attached every weekly magazine.  

The robot will complete with 70 volumes of magazine. The first issue price is 830 yen excluding tax.  Price of the 2nd issue will be 1843 yen.  The higher price issues will be 2306~9250 yen.

ATOM loads the newest AI which enables to recognize 12 faces and to develop conversation ability and is made by using just a screwdriver.

ROBO-ONE 30th sponsored by Biped Robot Association, took place at BANDO KOBE SCIENCE MUSEUM in Kobe City, Hyougo Pref. on Feb 26, 2017.   

ROBO-ONE Light 14th and ROBO-ONE auto took place on Sep 25th and 4.5m Footrce as the preliminary ROBO-ONE 30th Tournament and the main event ROBO-ONE 30th Final Tournament took place on Sep 26th.

The 1st ROBO-ONE auto, Autonomous Biped Robot Fight Tournament (Feb 25, 2017)

The 1st ROBO-ONE auto sponsored by Biped Robot Association, took place at BANDO KOBE SCIENCE MUSEUM in Kobe City, Hyougo Pref. on Feb 25, 2017.   

ROBO-ONE Light 14th also took place on Sep 25th and 4.5m Footrce as the preliminary ROBO-ONE 30th Tournament and the main event ROBO-ONE 30th Final Tournament took place on Sep 26th.



The major regulation of the 1st ROBO-ONE auto were just autonomous robot could join the tournament and the weight of robot, which was 5 kg or under.  Details of the body regulation were described in the 30th ROBO-ONE, the 14th ROBO-ONE Light Regulation and the 1st ROBO-ONE auto.(in English)   Side punch has been prohibited since ROBO-ONE 23rd Tournament in the robot fight.

Sixteen robots joined the competition.  The tournament winner was Ko-Bis by Bisko.  The 2nd place was SunShot by Osaka Electro-Communication University Jiyukobo-HRP.   The 3rd place was Garoo by Kumama.  Result of the tournament is here.

My autonomous robot, `BLACK TIGER NEO` also joined the tournament, however he dropped out of the ring and lost the game.   Almost autonomous robot had sensor system as PSD and/or ultrasonicwave sensor.  It was difficult for alomost autonomous robot to find the robot in long distance such as 1 m over.  

 Otsuka-san joined the tournament with his autonomous robot `Babbo-auto` and uploaded reports (1) (2) (in Japanese) of the details of tournament and also all videos of the 1st ROBO-ONE auto to his YouTube Channel.

KRS-6003R2HV, the highest torque (67kg-cm) servo, was put on the market ( Mar 4, 2017 )

KONDO KAGAKU CO. LTD. put the highest torque (67kg-cm) servo, KRS-6003R2HV ICS on the market on Mar 4, 2017. The characteristics of a new servo are as follows:

1) Using a gear wheel made from special aluminum metal and the third gear wheel made from hard stainless steel:
These gear wheels could endure more than 60 kg torque and make a big power.

2) Attached a heat-sink:
Using a heat-sink as a middle case, makes effective cool of the servo and using aluminum as the upper case makes the case strength improve remarkably.

3) Attaching aluminum clump hone:
Using a driving screw aluminum clump hone could endure overloading. Attaching buried clump hone could make the axis strength improve.

4) Variety of bottom case options:
There is a variety of bottom case option. It is possible to change the bottom case for variety flames.

The new servo is suitable for making a large original robot because of its high torque and variable bottom case options. The new servo is also effective for changing a few servos in general original robots.
